TESTIMONIALS

“When a doctor recommended EMDR for my son (3 years old), we contacted about 6 therapists in the Orlando area. Most immediately tried to tie us into many appointments or acted unsure about working with a child so young. Tammy said, “Poor little guy. Thanks for letting me help.” What a difference! So we immediately felt that she was the right person for us. She was very helpful as we prepared for our visit (paperwork, etc). She was always very accessible and stayed close in touch.

Our initial impression of Tammy was confirmed when we actually met. My son took to her instantly and was eager to go “play with aunt Tammy” each day of his treatment. As he was so young, she ended up doing “tapping” instead of traditional EMDR therapy. That was actually much better for us, as my husband and I were able to learn the basics of the technique, and we’ve since been able to use it to help my son with daily upsets. Her entire approach is very down-to-earth, yet you can see the high level of expertise, experience and training she is bringing to each component of the therapy. Nothing felt intimidating but every action certainly had a purpose!

Tammy had lots of toys to help with the therapy, in particular a neat collection of medical toys that were helpful in dealing with my son’s medical trauma. She would follow my son’s lead and introduce things to see how he responded. She would “tap” whenever he seemed upset. At the end, he went completely nuts and pretty much demolished her entire hospital set-up. My husband and I were rather embarrassed, and she just laughed and said, “It’s actually a really good sign.” He then turned around and proceeded to have his first bowel movement in 3 days of travel. . .talk about getting rid of your old crap! 🙂

Since our time with Tammy, my son has seemed less anxious overall. Previously, he was terrified of thunderstorms and now he can stand in the middle of a terrible storm, hear loud thunder, and calmly tell me-”Mommy that is loud thunder”. He seems utterly unaffected by it. Although we’ve been fortunate to not require medical care for him lately, he has been able to interact with doctors and nurses casually and hasn’t shown any of the panic and acute anxiety he used to show.

If you have any inclination that EMDR might be helpful to you or your family, don’t hesitate. We were astonished at how quickly and deeply healing it was for my son. Also, don’t hesitate to trust Tammy to help you with this therapy. Her kind and nurturing nature combined with her great experience will help you to start your own healing. She’ll support you every step of the way. I think you will look back and be as pleased and grateful as we are with how much better you and your family feel. It’s really worth it.”

“I had heard so much about Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and its positive effects on PTSD patients. I searched for a clinician who uses this therapy and found Tammy Carvalho. I was thrilled to find that she accepted my insurance. Tammy and I clicked immediately. I felt so comfortable with her and could not wait to get started. I did not know what to expect with the EMDR process. It was actually so simple. Tammy walked me through every step, patiently and knowledgeably.

After only one session, I saw progress with my PTSD. Images that haunted me started to feel like memories, with no power to harm me. During subsequent sessions, I have noticed that I am now calm when I think about my PTSD triggers. They no longer have any power over me!

My EMDR sessions have helped me deal with the issues of PTSD that have haunted me for a few years. I am so grateful for this simple, but effective, therapy. I Iook forward to more sessions with Tammy when I need them.”

My experience with Broken Wings Ministry in these past few weeks have been incredible. The professionalism that I see in the therapists and their concept of working closely together with family issues along with bringing aboard the spiritual part for me is a bonus. In other words , they are Cristian therapists that have the experience and preparation to take anyone who is in need of counseling to a next level.

I meet Itamara Stoker as well as Stefanía Villacis both bilingual with an incredible preparation and it has been a pleasure working with them. I have faith that these is going to be an incredible journey. I recommend Broken Wings Ministry 100%.

I love this practice so much. Everyone is always so friendly. It’s always such a calming environment. I always feel sooo relaxed when I go in. And I’m a huge fan of their essential oils they have in the office available for purchase!

I am very pleased to be part of the Broken Wings family. I think it is a very beautiful place and it radiates light. From the receptionist to the counselor, they are professional people and also very empathetic, which is a great help for those of us who need to count on them.Deseo que Papá Dios les continúe bendiciendo muchísimo en este camino de ayudar a otros. Mil Gracias♥️

Tammy is incredible. I have been searching high and low for year(s) on someone with her skill level that understands complex PTSD! If I ever found someone around Orlando they wanted $300 a session! Tammy takes insurance, unlike the others and she’s also so knowledgeable! I have met so many therapist during my journey that I had to actually teach them about c-ptsd, not Tammy! She also never talks to me In that fake therapist voice we all hate, she talks to me like I’m just another person. She’s the first therapist I’ve seen that I actually don’t feel like I need to be reassembled after the session 🤷🏼‍♀️😆.This place deserves more love!! For the first time ever I actually look forward to my sessions, they have helped immensely!💜💜💜I’d also like to add as an atheist you are welcome and accepted here! They never push religion on you or break those boundaries.

Jocelyn has helped me a lot with some hard transitions in my life and is absolutely incredible. I cannot recommend this group enough 💜
